Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members:
We are pleased to share the 2011-2012 New Jersey School Report Card. This document provides some insights into the progress of your childs school towards the states academic standards.
The state and federal Departments of Education require that students are tested each year in grades three through eight plus eleven to determine proficiency in specific content areas. A single test is not an accurate indicator of success in school, nor can one test measure all that we believe is important in a student's educational experience. These assessments do stress the types of content and skills we value. Our district is committed to help all students achieve and meet the expectations defined by both state and federal guidelines. We know that students must have requisite skills and knowledge to enable them to be successful, productive citizens.
In December 2010, the Buena Regional Community passed a referendum which has allowed for the renovation and modernization of the Cleary facility which opened in September 2012 and houses our 4th and 5th grade populations. The Collings Lakes and Milanesi schools now house our PK through grade 3 experiences. The Buena Regional High School continues to serve the high school populations of Estelle Manor and Weymouth as well Buena Borough and Buena Vista Township.
The entire Buena Regional learning community believes that the success of our students depends on a strong partnership between our schools and our community. Therefore, we encourage parents to become active in their children's education. Throughout the year, school personnel provide opportunities for community members to visit the schools, speak to the teachers, and witness the creative and athletic talents of our student body. We hope that these activities continue to be well attended and that you have the opportunity participate. If you have any questions about your School Report Card, please feel free to contact your building principal.
