Freehold Regional High School District, the largest regional high school District in New Jersey, has six high schools with almost 12,000 students and over 1,500 employees and spans 200 square miles. District members include the townships of Colts Neck, Freehold, Howell, Manalapan, and Marlboro, and the boroughs of Englishtown, Farmingdale, and Freehold. All eight towns are represented on the Board of Education. The FRHSD offers an extensive and comprehensive curriculum that includes a diverse range of electives designed to meet the varied needs and interests of students in the 21st century.
The District meets advanced academic needs through a wide assortment of accelerated and Advanced Placement (AP) classes at each high school. The District also hosts six unique specialized learning centers for highly motivated and gifted students in particular subject disciplines. All students from the region may apply for competitive admission. Specialized learning centers operate in the areas of Business Administration, Contemporary Global Issues, Humanities, Law and Public Services, Medical Sciences, and Science and Engineering.
The District also operates several career academies designed to provide students with exploration, employment skills, and college readiness experience. Career academy programs include Animal and Botanical Sciences, Computer Science, Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management (with its own licensed and student-operated restaurant), Fine and Performing Arts, Law Enforcement and Public Safety, and Navy Junior ROTC.
In addition to these specialized magnet programs, the District also participates in dual education programs and articulation agreements with higher education institutions which permit students to receive both high school and college credits for the same course. Additionally, District students have the opportunity to receive degree credit for independent study in areas in which they harbor unique abilities, talents, and skills.
We have much to be proud of at the Freehold Regional High School District. Our staff works diligently to meet all expectations and continues to promote academic excellence for all students. We are also very fortunate to have so many talented and enthusiastic students. High school proficiency test scores as well as PSAT and SAT scores consistently exceed state averages. The number of students taking Advanced Placement exams and scoring well is almost twice the state average which has garnered the District's inclusion in College Boards AP Honor Roll Recognition Program for the past two years. Over ninety percent of FRHSD graduating seniors pursue post-secondary education. In addition to balancing rigorous academic programs and extensive involvement in sports and/or extra-curricular activities, our students demonstrate a strong commitment to volunteerism and community service.
