NUMBER 20

Public School Twenty remains committed to individual and collective responsibility for lifelong learning. As a Primary School, our faculty fosters a child-centered environment where all children can be successful in a supportive and nurturing environment.
All members of our extended family work cooperatively to realize improvement within our school community. We bring it daily into our classrooms by implementing cooperative learning structures to enhance the delivery of instruction.

We welcome our parents as our partners in meeting the challenge of giving our students the best possible education. We encourage parents to become directly involved in school activities and to join our PTA, which meets twice monthly throughout the year, every first Tuesday, the Executive Board, and the general membership meeting every second Tuesday, including the summer months.

Our Title I services facilitate parent/teacher collaboration in an effort to narrow the achievement gap. In collaboration with all stakeholders we strive to continue to meet AYP (Adequately Yearly Progress) as mandated by the federal No-Child Left Behind Act.

We use data to drive instruction and set high goals for all students in Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies; meeting the needs of all pupils, we provide an inclusive setting designed to maximize student achievement in all content areas.

We have a well-defined vision that is pledged daily by our students conveying our commitment to a shared mission to reach our goals. At Public School Twenty, our overarching expectations as BLUE DOLPHINS include:

Being safe in an environment that fosters strong relationships where structure, discipline and belief in yourself, as well as in others is of the utmost importance.

Living responsibly as learners, community members and world citizens.

Understanding and respecting each other in an environment where decision making occurs using consensus, collaboration and self-reflection.

Encouraging each other to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

Our highly qualified staff members are committed to setting the highest standards for instruction and learning. They are recognized by the students and the parents for their continued professionalism, deep commitment and unyielding dedication to our schools’ mission. We foster self-confidence, motivation and a sense of accomplishment in our students.
