JOHN F KENNEDY MEM H

John F. Kennedy Memorial High School prides itself on fostering an environment that promotes the students’ confidence in themselves as scholars and emphasizes their importance as viable members of the community. We are committed to providing every student with a quality education that meets the needs of a multi-cultural populace. As a Governor’s School of Excellence Award recipient, JFKMHS offers a multitude of programs that emphasize the three A’s: academics, athletics, and arts. Our teachers employ innovative teaching strategies and implement new ideas in the classroom as the high rate of student success attests. It is of paramount importance to us as educators to instill in our students a lasting love of learning, a sense of communal responsibility, and an intrinsic awareness that respect is contagious. The rich and diverse curriculum and the high rate of success manifested by our students have earned us local and national recognition. JFKMHS has been ranked number seven in the DE District Factor Group for top high schools in New Jersey, as noted in New Jersey Monthly. We have been honored as a New Jersey National and State Service-Learning Leader School. Community service activities have been infused into the existing curriculum as our students participate in broad-based, multi-disciplinary Service-Learning projects. Our school has been recognized as a New Jersey State Best Practice School for programs promoting Language Art Literacy, Citizenship and Character Education, and Science Research. We were also awarded the NJ Academy of Science Grant.
Our mission is to develop, through a technology infused curriculum, life-long learners who are responsible citizens prepared to enter the global society. JFKMHS is dedicated to providing our students with the tools for a successful future. We currently have over 300 computers, including thirty-four in the Media Center. In addition to four business classrooms comprised of over 100 computers, we also have two computer labs for general classroom use. Our curriculum offers courses in Advanced Placement, Assisted Student Instruction, English as a Second Language, Special Education, and Gifted and Talented, as well as electives in all disciplines for students at all levels. Our students have enjoyed numerous individual accomplishments as being recognized as Edward Bloustein Distinguished Scholars, National Merit Scholar Commendations/Semi Finalists, Intel Science Research Semi Finalist, and New Jersey Governor’s School Finalists.

Students at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School are encouraged to participate in extra curricular clubs and athletics. Our school offers thirty-two clubs and organizations to provide enrichment in all interests. JFKMHS participates in the Interscholastic Athletic Program governed by the NJSIAA, which includes eighteen varsity sports for both boys and girls.

As documented in the School Report Card, the student body consists of a composite of multi-ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. From this diversity, our students have reaped the benefits of learning to respect cultural, religious, and racial differences. JFKMHS is proud of the tight link that exists among administrators, teachers, parents, and the community who work together to provide our students with a comprehensive, challenging academic experience.
